Calvin Harris has been touring along side Rihanna since early last summer, so it was only a matter of time before the two decided to collaborate on a track. We Found Love is a perfect unification of both artists’ sounds. Rihanna delivers melodic and yearning lyrics and Calvin busts out another anthemic beat, which makes the track uniquely house rather than just the same electropop sound that has been dominating the Top 40 charts. This one will certainly be being played out everywhere, so grab it while it’s hot!

Dang, it’s been quite the year already for Dirty South. First he locked down one of 2011’s club anthems with his remix of Coming Home by Diddy-Dirty Money. Then he put out his new single Alive, with Thomas Gold featuring Kate Elsworth. Now he’s back with another fantastic and emotional remix of Skylar Grey’s Invisible. Dirty South has found an incredible niche in his music that tackles both the nostalgic and redemptive. His songs take beautiful pauses to let the vocals shine and then power through with a hook that gets you off your feet and ready to dance until sunrise.

I’ve been bumping this choone consistently for the past couple weeks. The hook is dope and Oliver’s remix has got a driving nu-disco sound that makes it a great track for cruising the block or crushing the club. Get iiiiiiit!

MOOMBAHTON!!! So for this week’s Moombahton Monday I’ve got a recent remix that I’ve completed of Chiddy Bang’s Mind Your Manners. Sampling from Icona Pop, this track has such an addicting hook, so I decided to highlight that and give the track a serious moombah infusion. Everybody has their own opinion about David Guetta and his #nationguetta. Fact is, he is the reason why dance music has crossed over the pond so rapidly. I have a feeling that the US was destined to adore EDM eventually, but Guetta was able to make it happen in just over a year. I must say, although I enjoy knowing that Guetta can get the college clubs popping with his electro-pop Top 40 bangers, I was more of a fan of his earlier production on albums like ‘Pop Life’. However a new Guetta track, entitled Titanium, has just been dropped and I think it’s got some potential. Much more electro/anthemic than his recent releases, Guetta may be using Titanium to take the Flo Rida teenyboppers and turn them into full-fledge EDM thrashers. Who knows? D. Guetta got this.

Sometimes I consider just turning my entire site into a Kito fan page. Her production is some of the most original and interesting in the game. Every new track that comes out of this Aussie’s studio is more superb than the last. Run For Cover (off the newly released Mad Decent Vol. 1 compilation) builds on the sounds of Kito & Reija Lee’s ‘Sweet Talk’ EP. Reija Lee’s expert vocals are serene yet ominous, while Kito’s production includes and amazing array of musical influence, including 8-bit, dubstep, and plain ol’ “Kito-step”. Just brilliant work.

I don’t regularly post mashups on this site, but I felt compelled to drop this one on you all. I will admit, that I am not a fan of Empire of the Sun. Don’t take this as an insult to their music, I think it is perfectly fine, it’s just not my style, plain and simple. However, MAKJ’s bootleg of Peacetreaty’s Heard of Us and Empire’s Walking On A Dream is the first time I have really felt the lyrics of the latter resonate. This mashup is just awesome and the fact that it makes me want to belt out the lyrics to Walking On A Dream makes it even more of an accomplishment in my eyes. Katy B’s soulful voice has been permeating the UK radio waves for months now. Her tracks bridge multiple genres unconventional to the Top40 charts, including dubstep, garage, and electro house. This remix of her fourth single Easy Please Me was produced by West London’s dubstep duke, Caspa. The original follows the traditional dubstep cadence, but Caspa’s remix goes all in and impregnates it with the dirtiest of grime sound, giving it a huge boost of swagger. A must hear. Thizz face on.

Modestep is a four-piece live bass-heavy band from London. Like other electro bands such as Pendulum and Chase & Status, Modestep is at its core a band, for which electronic music is the primary medium of composition and style. They garnered a lot of attention with their single Feel Good, which was released in late 2010. Now they are back with another incredibly heavy track. Sunlight shares the spotlight equally between the DJ, band members, and vocalist, which makes for a refreshing balance in EDM. Get 2 Know A DJ - Madeon

At this point, almost everyone has heard about Madeon. He’s from Nantes, France. He produces awesome French House. Oh yea, he just turned 17! There’s almost nothing else to say. His tracks are simply perfect. He combines the classic sounds of French House with contemporary ‘Call and Response’ electro typified by Wolfgang Gartner’s music. Madeon’s tracks are so complex and have so many different elements, but they come together flawlessly. His remixes of Deadmau5, Pendulum, and Yelle are the epitome of what I think remixes should be. He takes samples and sounds from the originals, but puts an entirely different song together that is pure Madeon, through and through. He’s really just starting and has nowhere to go but up. Prodigy personified.
