Today’s track is the newest single off Robyn’s completed album Body Talk, which was released in two different parts and a final 3rd EP installment. ‘Call Your Girlfriend’ is just one of the many synthpop singles from the Swedish recording artist. Like Elly Jackson of La Roux, Robyn has defied gender/genre stereotyping that often occurs in pop music, producing tracks that have something for everyone, whether it be lyrics lamenting adolescent ailments, euro-house hooks, all-out electro drops, or a swag-infused verse by Snoop Dogg. Robyn’s music is comprised of so many different musical elements that you will be hard-pressed not finding something you don’t want to rock out to.

A little over a week ago, I posted a track by Swedish DJ/producer, Avicii. I try not to repeat artists too often, but I went to a concert here in DC that Avicii was headlining and I believe that he’s worth highlighting again. His live show was just incredible. The overall vibe was excited and positive throughout. The crowd was shockingly docile and respectful, especially for an 18+ event, people really were just there for the music.
Avicii’s set was close to perfect. He spun a great blend of trance, house, and industrial house, making sure to throw in some mega drops/anthems to reinvigorate the crowd from time to time. Most of all, he looked like he was enjoying what he was doing. I’ve begun to have a severe distaste for DJs that don’t take their eyes off the computer or their records. Avicii was singing to all the tracks, dancing around the booth, and making sure to connect with the crowd. Today’s track is his remix of Robyn’s Hang With Me. A great mix that stays true to Robyn’s original track, but makes it truly club-worthy. Check it out and put a smile on.
